Sydney aboard China Southern Airlines flight for Guangzhou.
On arrival your National Tour Guide will greet you
and organise the transfer to accommodation.
Early morning visit to Qingping Markets,
then onto The Six Banyan Monastery, Sun Yatsen¡¯s Memorial
Hall, and Shamian Island. In the evening enjoy a Cultural
Performance.
Take a short coach tour into the country
side to Foshan to observe the rural life in China.
Visit pottery and porcelain factories. Return to Guangzhou
for an evening cruise and dinner on the Pearl River.
In the morning depart Guangzhou and after a 1.5 hour
flight arrive in Xian, transfer to accommodation and
relax. In the afternoon tour the City Wall and Drum
Tower, Shaanxi History Museum, (ne of the finest in
China) and cloisonn¨¦ / jade craft centres. In the
evening enjoy banquet and performance at the Tang
Dynasty Cultural Show.
Spend day touring amazing archaeological
wonders. See the 6 000 figures of the Terracotta Army
that protect the mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shihuang
(259 BC ¨C 210 BC), the first emperor of united China.
Stroll through Huaqing Pool where the emperors and
concubines of the Tang Dynasty bathed in the hot spring
pools. Inspect the excavations and relics of Banpo
Neolithic Village that date back to the period 4 500
BC ¨C 3 750 BC. Relax and enjoy a free evening with
hotel in house activities.
Depart Xian by express passenger train for Louyang.
Relax on the 6 hour journey observing the countryside
and people as they go about their work. On arrival
in Luoyang transfer to accommodation and enjoy a free
evening¡¯
Tour to the Longman Grottoes to view the
carvings and sculptures that decorate the cliffs on
either side of the Yi He river. In the afternoon visit
the White Horse Temple a site where early Buddhist
scriptures and statues were housed after being brought
back from India. In the evening enjoy the in house
activities provided in the hotel entertainment centre.
Depart Luoyang by coach to travel to Shaolin Temple,
the home for the followers of Zen Buddhism practise
the martial art form of unarmed combat known as Kung
Fu.. It is believed that the monastery was founded
during the 5th century. Watch the Shoalin soldier
monks demonstrate their disciplines. Continue onto
Zhengzhou and on arrival have a brief tour of the
city and transfer to accommodation.
Undertake a coach day tour to the ancient
capital city of Keifeng. The city prospered during
the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1126). In this period
the first Jewish people arrived in China from India.
Their synagogues exist beside the Christian churches,
Moslem mosques and Buddhist pagodas. A
whole street recreates the markets, bazaars and restaurants
of the time and tourists can experience a step back
into history. Return to Zhengzhou and journey in the
comfort of a soft sleeper berth aboard the overnight
express to Beijing.
On arrival in Beijing transfer to accommodation. In
the morning visit Tiannamen Square and tour the Forbidden
City, the imperial palace of the emperors for more
than 500 years. In the afternoon tour to the majestic
Temple of Heaven where emperors prayed for good harvests
and the welfare of their subjects. In the evening
be entertained by the amazing Beijing Acrobatic Troupe.
All day tour to the 2 000 year old 6 500
kms long Great Wall of China, built 2 000 years ago
as a barricade against the marauding northern neighbours,
and the Ming Tombs in Shisanling Forest where 13 of
the 16 emperors from the Ming Dynasty are buried.
In the evening enjoy a Peking Duck banquet.
Morning visit to Fragrant Hills Park. Stroll
through beautiful parkland, ride on the chairlift
to peak for a fine view and tour the 1366 built Azure
Clouds Temple containing 500 Buddha statues. In the
afternoon visit the magnificent Summer Palace resort
where the imperial court spent the summer months escaping
the heat in Beijing. Evening free but options such
as attending Beijing Opera or visiting a foot massage
parlour or relaxing at the hotel karaoke bar or recreational
centre can be arranged.
In the morning enjoy a pedicab tour of the
Hutongs and inspect the architecture and gardens of
Prince Gongwong¡¯s Palace to participate in a tea ceremony.
In the afternoon go shopping at a department store
in Wang Fu Jing street or test your bargaining skills
with the crafty stallholders in the free market at
Silk Alley. Free evening
Depart Beijing on a China Southern Airline for a brief
touch down in Guangzhou and an overnight flight for
Sydney.
