Sydney aboard China Southern Airlines flight. Arrive
Guangzhou and transfer to accommodation.
Early morning visit to Qingping Markets,
then onto The Six Banyan Monastery, Sun Yatsen＊s Memorial
Hall, and Shamian Island. In the evening enjoy a Cultural
Performance.
Take a short coach tour into the country
side to Foshan to observe the rural life in China.
Visit pottery and porcelain factories. Return to Guangzhou
for an evening cruise and dinner on the Pearl River.
In the morning depart Guangzhou and after a 1 hour
flight arrive in Kunming the capital of Yunnan Province.
Kunming enjoys a mild year round climate and is called
the ※City of Perpetual Spring§. Transfer to accommodation
and relax. In the afternoon visit the World Horticultural
Park that features Chinese and international gardens
and displays. In the evening stroll through free markets
and bargain with stallholders for gifts and presents.
Depart Kunming and fly to Zhongdian. This
remote city is 3 200 m above sea level and a gateway
between Tibet and China. On arrival transfer to accommodation
and relax. In the afternoon visit Yellow Hat Tibetian
Songzanlin Monastery. In the evening stroll through
the Tibetan village making contact with the residents
and markets.
Day touring the scenic countryside around
the shores of Napahai Lake and making contact with
some of the 13 ethnic groups that inhabit the region.
Evening free.
Depart Zhongdian on a the 250 km coach journey to
Lijiang. On the trip pass by such spectacular scenery
as the famous deep canyon of Tiger Leaping Gorge,
the First Bend of the Yangtze River and Shigu (Stone
Drum) County. On arrival in Lijiang visit Naxi Village
to saviour the lifestyle of this ethnic minority group.
Transfer to accommodation. In the evening enjoy a
performance of the Naxi Ancient Music Show..
In the morning visit Yufeng Temple site of
a 500 year old camellia tree, and then travel to Jade
Dragon Snow Mountain. Take the cable car to the top
of the mountain to gain a magnificent view and appreciation
of rich vegetation in the alpine ecosystem. Visit
Baisha Village to view the rock paintings. Evening
free.
In the morning depart Lijiang to undertake a 400 km
return coach journey to a remote village of the Mosuo
peoples ※unique matriarchial kingdom§ .Late afternoon
arrive in Lugu and transfer to accommodation. In the
evening be entertained with a program of traditional
dance and singing around a bonfire.
In the morning tour the shores of scenic
Lugu Lake and visit a Mosuo home. In the late afternoon
journey onto Ninglang and transfer to accommodation.
Evening free.
Depart Ninglang and return to Lijiang. Transfer to
accommodation. Evening free.
Depart Lijiang on a 3 hour 190 km coach journey to
Dali. Transfer to accommodation. In the afternoon
cruise on Erhai Lake and enjoy an onboard Bai ethnic
group banquet and cultural performance.
Day tour to the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng
Temple, Dali Museum, Butterfly Spring Park and Bai
Village. In the evening depart Dali in a soft sleeper
berth for the overnight train journey to Kunming.
Early morning arrival in Kunming and transfer to accommodation.
Take day coach tour through the countryside to the
remarkable Stone Forest. Enjoy some hiking through
one of the nature walking tracks. Return to Kunming
for end of tour banquet of Yunnan traditional dishes.
Pack luggage.
Depart Kunming aboard flight to Guangzhou. In the
evening depart Guangzhou and China aboard China Southern
Airlines flight for Sydney.
Arrive Sydney.
